Choosing Your LinkedIn Profile Picture

Choosing Your LinkedIn Profile Picture

New research shows that wearing glasses on an interview may get you hired!

Never mind a crisp shirt or a firm handshake. If you want to impress a potential employer, put on a pair of spectacles.

Job hunters are more likely to be hired if they wear glasses to their interview, according to a study.

A third of adults think spectacle-wearers look more professional, while 43 per cent think they appear more intelligent.

You might not get a date like Dorothy Parker said, but at least you will get hired! :-)

Seriously though, I think we can transfer this to LinkedIn as well. Put on those glasses to look more intelligent and professional in your LinkedIn profile.

I know it’s strange to upload a picture of yourself to your profile but it is important if you want to be seen as serious. Most people ignore profiles without pictures and you don’t want to be ignored, right? Plus, when connecting with old colleagues and schoolmates, they may recognize your mug faster than they recognize your name. So give a call to the local photographer, plunk down some money and get a professional picture taken– with GLASSES!

It’s what’s going to separate you from the unwashed masses! Think about it… we all make judgments about people based on how they look. You know it, everyone knows it… so make yourself look as good as possible! Put on a suit, comb your hair… AND SMILE! Remember, you want to look friendly, approachable, clean, AND WELL ADJUSTED. Make it easy on people to reach out to you. Put them at ease with your smile. And if a pair of glasses will help your cause, I say put ‘em on!

In fact, I recently read about a new online store that sells boutique frames for the low, low price of just $95, and that includes prescriptive lenses!
