I was just profiled in the Yardley News! The Yardley News is a local weekly newspaper serving the Bucks County and Philadelphia areas. I spoke to John Williams yesterday afternoon and imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to a Google Alert with a link to the article! I thoroughly enjoyed the interview because I got to talk about 2 of my favorite subjects, my book and the Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce!

Just noticed 2 more rave reviews of my book, LinkedIn Makeover: Professional Secrets to a POWERFUL LinkedIn Profile! It’s so gratifying to know that my book is helping professionals and job seekers promote themselves in this tough job market. If you have read my book and enjoyed it, please write a review!
I just received an email from a professional interested in my LinkedIn Profile Optimization services. She was concerned about doing business over the Web. I can understand her online security concern. Here is her question and how I responded:
Hi Donna,
I really would like to have you optimize my LinkedIn profile but my only concern is the payment side. You have a really nice site and I would love, love if you could deliver. I am just concerned about scams. How could we work through that? I am scared to pay upfront.
Thanks,
Jessica
The LinkedIn questions keep coming! This LinkedIn question comes from a woman who purchased my book, LinkedIn Makeover: Professional Secrets to a POWERFUL LinkedIn Profile. Her issue is a common one. Many people mistakenly create duplicate accounts on LinkedIn and can’t figure out how to get rid of them. If you have duplicate LinkedIn accounts, breath easy… you are in good company! Here are the steps to take to get rid of your duplicate LinkedIn profile!
Donna:
I have your wonderful book and I’m eager to update and improve my LinkedIn profile.
But, I’m having a terrible time with customer service. It seems I have duplicate accts and it has generated some significant problems for me.
Customer service will not respond. It has been a week since my initial inquiry plus a phone message.
By chance, do you have a direct contact name at the company who could be of assistance to clear this up?
With appreciation,
Lisa
Last night I conducted a LinkedIn Workshop for the NPC Career Networking Group. The room was packed with people! It was a great group and the presentation was full of interactions and laughs! In the very beginning of my presentation I asked everyone to say Hello…. check it out:
This post has been updated here: You won?t believe what LinkedIn did to their discounted premium plan I have bad news! It seems the LinkedIn Personal Plus Premium Account is no longer publicly available. This was the account type I recommended to my clients and it’s the account type I use myself. The cost was …
While I was doing my morning one on one LinkedIn Makeover session with a client, I noticed there was a change in the way LinkedIn presented the Skills section. LinkedIn used to provide the opportunity to list your proficiency level and years of experience along with the skill. This has changed and now you are limited to just the skill. It makes sense. Those fields added very little value to the profile because everyone listed themselves as “Experts” regardless of their years of experience or true proficiency level.
Here’s what the new Skills section looks like now:
I received another question, this time from a past client of mine. We optimized his profile a few months ago and as he had expected might happen, he was let go just yesterday. Here is his email and my response…
Donna –
I unfortunately have been given notice by my company, and I am negotiating severance. Can you do me a favor and give me a couple tips and ideas on how and when to update my profile. Obviously, there are a lot of contacts I have in the industry and personal.
Thanks,
Nick
If you are a frequent reader of the LinkedIn Makeover Blog, you may know that my office is just outside beautiful Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Here in PA we have some odd events. Every year in Phoenixville we celebrate the anniversary of the movie, The Blob! This Blobfest celebration includes a mad dash out of the Colonial Movie Theater, just like in the movie. After the running out, we head next door for the Blob Ball in which MY favorite band, The Rivers Rockabilly Trio plays songs from the 1950’s and everyone dances! Yes, it’s true I am a VERY LONG TIME FAN of the band and in my fandom, I have done some Social Media consulting work for them. That may explain this very awesome plug they gave my book, LinkedIn Makeover: Professional Secrets to a POWERFUL LinkedIn Profile, during their concert:
