LinkedIn Education Gets a GRADE!
Today I was optimizing a LinkedIn profile for a recruiter and I stumbled upon a NEW FIELD! The education section has a new field called, GRADE! Yes, LinkedIn now allows you to enter your grade for the school you attended. It’s actually a rather odd field. It says grade, not GPA. In my mind, there is a difference. I think of a grade as a mark for a class. The GPA is the overall average of time spent in school. Of course, that could just be me. I have a feeling that few will fill out the new grade field willingly unless they...

We tend to trust that our Social Networking data is safe. Backing up data is for the files on our personal computers. WRONG! Your online data is just as easily compromised as the files on your computer. It’s imperative that you backup your Social Media content. In fact, this may surprise you but you do not have total control over your LinkedIn account. According to LinkedIn’s User Agreement, it states quite matter-of-factly: LinkedIn may terminate the Agreement and your account for any reason or no reason, at any time, with or...

I created my LinkedIn Group, Profile Makeover: Optimization Secrets, almost a year ago. It’s hard to admit but I never effectively marketed it or gave it much love. In the back of my mind, I’d think, “You really should spend some time and get that Group off the ground.” And then I’d pour myself a bowl of cereal and optimize someone’s LinkedIn profile. Last Monday, everything changed. I was chatting with an acquaintance and they said, “It’s great you have a LinkedIn Group but it’s...

Today, a nice fellow from Greece emailed me to ask my advice about marketing his business on LinkedIn. In the email, he also asked how long I have been a LinkedIn member. Not sure, I logged in to LinkedIn to find out. How to Determine Your LinkedIn Start DateNot many...

I hope everyone had a lovely, happy, warm Thanksgiving! This was a tough year for my family. We lost my father 7 months ago. Thanksgiving was always his holiday. Our yearly tradition was deep frying the turkey. My father orchestrated the annual venture and he had it down to a science. Neighbors would line up to get their turkeys deep-fried by him. It was always such a fun day, full of laughter and friends. This year things were different. Luckily, we spent the day with family. My Aunt Helen (my father’s older sister) invited us to her...
