I Deleted My Account, Will My Name Stay On a Connection’s “Who’s Viewed My Profile?”

Question: I deleted my LinkedIn account. Will my name disappear in the Who’s Viewed Your Profile screen of LinkedIn?

Question: I have dropped to ‘Anonymous’ after I viewed some profiles- now I have deleted the account- will they still be able to tell? Help!!
Question: I viewed a bunch of LinkedIn profiles only to find they can see that I was stalking them! I deleted my LinkedIn account. Will my name still show up in their Who’s Viewed My Profile list?

Answer: I’ve received this question a number of times. Clearly it’s a universal issue. I wasn’t sure of the answer so I created a new LinkedIn account to see how it works.

Your LinkedIn network is the most valuable part of LinkedIn and the key to truly leveraging the system. The problem is LinkedIn tells us to only connect with people you know and trust. Like a good little girl, I followed their directive for a very long time. But then I started to notice that in LinkedIn search results, certain profiles ranked higher than other profiles. These higher ranking profiles didn’t even match the search criteria that well. In fact, the higher ranking profile wasn’t even as closely connected to the searcher as other lower ranking profiles. Why were these higher ranking profiles getting SPECIAL treatment and placement?

I found it rather surprising that these strangers would ask me for a recommendation, especially since we have never worked together. Here’s something to remember: If you wouldn’t recommend a person in the real world, there’s no need to recommend them in the cyber world.
