Happy Thanksgiving, Readers!

I hope everyone had a lovely, happy, warm Thanksgiving!

This was a tough year for my family. We lost my father 7 months ago. Thanksgiving was always his holiday. Our yearly tradition was deep frying the turkey. My father orchestrated the annual venture and he had it down to a science. Neighbors would line up to get their turkeys deep-fried by him. It was always such a fun day, full of laughter and friends.

This year things were different. Luckily, we spent the day with family. My Aunt Helen (my father’s older sister) invited us to her house to celebrate with her sons and their families. It was wonderful seeing all my little cousins. Even my celebrity cousin, Connor Shanosky who plays with DC United, was there! (DC United is a soccer team, not an airline as I first thought). I am glad we turned what could have been a sad time into a very happy day.
