LinkedIn announced today that their LinkedIn mobile application now provides the functionality to EDIT your LinkedIn profile. This was one of their most requested features and it’s finally a reality.
You can now update your profile with a new headline, profile photo, edit your summary, add recent skills, or add a new position. Keeping your professional identity up to date while on the go has never been so easy!
Watch as I demonstrate this new functionality:
Considering that this functionality is brand new, it works seamlessly without any apparent bugginess. It’s easy to click the edit button and start editing your LinkedIn profile. I had no issues making edits to my profile like editing the Summary or adding address information. Great job, LinkedIn!
I can’t say that I was one of the people screaming for this functionality. Your LinkedIn profile is such an important part of your professional brand, it’s hard to imagine editing it from a mobile device. Regardless, more and more people use their smart phones as their sole access point to the Internet that it’s important for this functionality to exist.
I would never recommend writing your entire profile from your mobile device. Instead, you can use your smart phone to make small tweaks here and there to your profile, as needed. Perhaps we are getting to that point where after getting the cardboard box to pack your office belongings, you can add an end date to your LinkedIn profile while you are walking out the door!
