LinkedIn Polls, Back again!

It was just a couple weeks ago while opining the removal of the Products & Services tab from LinkedIn’s Company pages that I wondered, “What will be the next bit of functionality LinkedIn will remove?”

I didn’t have to wait very long!

LinkedIn Polls in Groups is going away…

At LinkedIn, we aim to provide a simple and efficient experience for our members. To do this, we’re continuously evaluating how our current products and features are used, and seeking new ways to focus our resources on building the best products. This sometimes results in the retirement of certain features.

LinkedIn Polls in Groups will be retired on May 15, 2014.

You can continue to engage with fellow members by posting a question to get the group’s response or sharing an update or participating in conversations directly on the LinkedIn homepage.

Am I sad that LinkedIn Polls is going away? Not at all. I think I might have created one poll ever on LinkedIn. Most people who did use Polls were doing it not for information gathering but for obnoxious marketing reasons. The results of the polls were dubious at best.

It is curious to see a company month after month, downgrade its features and functionality. One can only assume they are working on becoming lean and mean with a narrow focus of pure success. We shall see!
