This is to promote my online store called TraditionalFilipinoWeapons.com Off Youtube I am doing well with it. I am all over Facebbok…they actually promote my videos for me. Can you tell me how to get that group I started out in the public/Linkden eye? I am not really sure how people promote their groups. I see many get big responces.
It’s not easy to grow a LinkedIn Group. It has taken me two years to get my group to where it is. It takes time and A LOT of effort on the part of the Group owner.
My initial suggestion would be to really determine if you want to make the commitment to the group. If you aren’t able to commit the time, I wouldn’t even bother.
Instead, you can join another group with a similar objective, get involved and use it as your platform.
If you are ready to make the commitment, the first thing I would do is change the name of the group. Cut videos made for TraditionalFilipinoWeapons.com makes no sense. Instead, I would name the group something people would be interested in joining. Filipino Martial Arts Network might be a good name.
Once you have the name ready, you need to promote it. Send an email to your email list with a link to the group. Also send a mass email to all your LinkedIn connections asking them to be part of the group. Don’t just ask people to join… tell them the benefits they’ll receive from joining the group. Make becoming a member a tasty proposition for them.
Step outside of your network. Do searches and find people who could also offer information and connect with them and send them a personal email asking them to contribute. Yes, ask other experts to join you!
Sprinkle the link to your group everywhere! Direct people to your group from your email signature, Websites, social networks, etc… As a public speaker who talks about LinkedIn, I often tell my audiences that if they want to continue to learn about LinkedIn, JOIN MY LINKEDIN GROUP.
Once people start joining, you need to give them a reason to stay engaged and promote the group for you. You need to provide them value. Start discussions that require people to respond. Don’t just post a video. Teach and inform. Ask questions. Ask for people’s opinions. Engage with the members.
Realize you are the host of this party. Act like a host! Introduce people, start discussions, invite people to join in on discussions and make sure everyone is comfortable and having fun.
You also want to make sure that you keep the group focused. There will be people who post on topics that are outside the group’s objective. Don’t be afraid to delete topics. Make sure spammers are banned immediately. The last thing you want is someone polluting your group with spam.
Above all, be a role model. Lead by example. Provide value first and foremost. Sales and opportunity will follow.
If you do all these things, you will have a thriving LinkedIn group in 6 months to 1 year.
