LinkedIn is really changing things up! Today, I logged in and there were more changes to the LinkedIn interface. Just a few weeks ago, LinkedIn implemented some massive changes to their site. One of the most obvious changes occurred to their navigation bar which went from a very light grey to black. Today, LinkedIn introduces more changes to the navigation bar!
LinkedIn has now included email and notification icons to their navigation bar. These changes echo Facebook’s interface and clearly show LinkedIn’s desire to provide users with a more social experience.
Hovering over the icons, a drop menu appears that allows you to easily move to new email messages or notifications. It’s the notifications icon that provides the biggest change since this is truly LinkedIn’s foray into introducing a more social aspect to their site. It was just a few months ago that LinkedIn removed the ability to add tweets automatically to LinkedIn’s status updates.
By clearly and easily showing notifications to user’s status updates, LinkedIn is now making it even easier for users to interact with each other on LinkedIn. Although it was possible to comment and like updates, notifications came to your email inbox. It was easy to miss interactions and not respond.
These new design changes demonstrate LinkedIn’s commitment to providing their users with more social functionality to their LinkedIn network. Creating a more social environment will allow LinkedIn users to truly interact with each other so they can network and discover opportunity even more effectively.
