When did LinkedIn start? LinkedIn launched on May 5, 2003. Back then it looked like this:
LinkedIn is older than Facebook AND Twitter. Facebook started on February 4, 2004 and Twitter came to life in March of 2006. Although older, LinkedIn has the smallest audience, recently reaching 300 million members.
I joined LinkedIn on November 28, 2005.
Gosh, I remember copying and pasting my resume into my LinkedIn profile and seeing absolutely ZERO response. Back then, I was certain LinkedIn was useless. That is, until I learned the potential of LinkedIn and the importance of having an optimized LinkedIn profile.
So why this trip down memory lane? Eddie O Driscoll contacted me regarding an infographic he created. He used some of my work and gave me credit on the infographic.
I think it’s a pretty nifty infographic– check it out:

Holy cow, Mike! You are one of the early adopters!
September 2003… and as you mention, it was pretty limited for quite a while, despite becoming a LION, before they expanded the features, made the site more compelling to visit, and the whole thing took off in a big way!
