Hi Donna,

I wanted to thank you for all of your tips and tricks on LinkedIn profiles. It has helped me a lot, and I think you are doing many great things
for free.

I moved to CA last year and have to start my real estate business from scratch. It’s really tough here to find buyers or sellers, so I am learning how to try to network
with Linkedin and Facebook. So far, I haven’t gotten any good connections but I am still learning. Any advice on how I can get business on LinkedIn?

You asked how you can use LinkedIn to get more business. I find that when people go to LinkedIn looking for more sales they invariably fail. Instead, approach LinkedIn with the desire to educate people, help people, connect people, and inspire people.

Don’t aim low and wide, splaying your network with uninteresting, impersonal marketing messages. Instead, recommend people who have impressed and challenged you. Write status updates that are chock full of interesting information that educates your network. Introduce people who have synergy. Research prospects and customers to get a deeper sense of who they are and what they care about. Ask your happy clients to recommend you. Reach out to your connections outside of LinkedIn. Make sure your LinkedIn profile showcases who you are and how you benefit others.

When you start using LinkedIn for good– when you use LinkedIn to GIVE… that’s when business will come your way. People do business with people who care and provide value.
