LinkedIn Makeover

for Power Prospecting

for Sales & Marketing Directors who want to showcase key employees to bolster the company brand, accelerate rapport building, and generate more inbound leads.

The sales landscape has been flipped on its head

Prospecting has become increasingly difficult

In the Past...

A sales person led the prospect's education and buying process

TODAY

The prospect arrives at the conversation researched, informed, and clear on their choices.

A Google search (and some online reviews) will tell them anything they want to know about your company’s products and services.

Your website is usually a last resort – the modern prospect prefers the less curated and controlled presentations on social media.

The result?

You have a skilled and confident sales team, but they’re struggling to build rapport with prospects – and being rejected and ghosted more often.

LinkedIn can provide a huge advantage!

It's the world's largest online professional network

40% of B2B marketers see LinkedIn as their most effective channel for driving high quality leads.

The right positioning on LinkedIn will enable YOUR COMPANY to:
✔️Powerfully and persuasively present itself to your ideal target audience
✔️Demonstrate thought leadership and authority in your industry
✔️Showcase employees and shine a light on their expertise
Showcasing your KEY PEOPLE on LinkedIn promises:
✔️Stronger brand presence & richer reputation
✔️Improved "discoverability" & warmer leads
✔️Smoother outreach & easier rapport building

So why isn't LinkedIn working for you?

How do you cut through the noise?

How do you stand out in a way that resonates with your TARGET audience?

How do you clearly communicate your differentiated value?

LinkedIn turned out to be far more difficult than you imagined!

Face it, LinkedIn can be
confusing & overwhelming

Just getting your team to work on their profiles can feel like you’re herding cats.

Trying to get diverse personalities to align on messaging and present their personal brand in a way that is aligned with your company’s vibe and values is an almost impossible undertaking.

If you’ve already attempted to tackle this you may have already recognized that your people lack the insight and expertise to accomplish what you had in mind.

Your marketing team could probably figure it out, but – (even with copywriters or strong brand communicators) – they’re too caught up in their “more urgent” work.

The result?

  • Employees’ LinkedIn profiles are half-baked at best.
  • They fail to reflect the company’s brand and value proposition.
  • Overall, your team presents as low-level and disjointed.

Crafting Your Own Profile is EXTREMELY Difficult

Even the best writers in the world struggle. And most LinkedIn users get it (horribly) wrong.

These 3 Common LinkedIn Fails
Hurt Your Company's
Reputation, Relationships, & Revenue:

Failure #1: Treating a LinkedIn profile like an online resume

Contrary to popular misconception writing a compelling LinkedIn profile demands more than a mere copy and paste of a resume. Resume writers are typically recruiter-types who help you get a job.

The best profile writers are novelists, marketers, advertisers, journalists, and reporters who masterfully extract the components of your story, and assemble them into a personal brand vehicle that can transport you in the direction of your vision and goals.

By treating a LinkedIn profile like a (totally forgettable) resume replica, your best sales representatives are more likely to be poached by a competitor than they are to resonate with your target audience.

Failure #2: Misaligned Messaging

A successful profile is aligned with the person's goal and the company's message. But who spends time thinking of their goal, target audience, keywords and company story? The result is profile positioning that is disconnected from your brand's value and communication.

But even worse, it fails to resonate with ideal clients. The messaging is disconnected from the buyer's journey and it neglects to answer the prospective customer's pains and problems and fails to speak to their hopes and aspirations.

Profiles that are misaligned don't contain the right keywords and without the right keywords, your chances of colliding with qualified opportunities is diminished.

Failure #3: Aggressive, Transactional Selling to Cold Audiences

A LinkedIn profile is NOT a direct sales channel!

Your LinkedIn profile is a powerful mechanism for building rapport, by showcasing who you are and what you believe.

It allows you to build rich relationships in less time, and better position yourself for sales opportunities.

But pushy sales approaches are at odds with the platform's culture of knowledge-sharing and encouragement, and makes potential customers uneasy – even suspicious and guarded.

We Stand by Our ‘Won’t give up ’til it’s Great’ 100% Gratification Guarantee

When partnering with the LinkedIn Makeover team our uncompromising obsession with excellence might seem unnecessary – even a bit uncomfortable.

But we believe that ‘good’ is the enemy of ‘great’, and we’ll ALWAYS push ourselves to deliver captivating and compelling LinkedIn profiles that powerfully and persuasively present your  company and your people, and deeply resonate with your target audience.

If you’re not wholly gratified that your LinkedIn pages and profiles have fulfilled that mandate (an improbable but not impossible scenario), contact us to let us know that you aren’t happy. We will work with you to make things right.

That might be additional revisions, different writers, or a way to exit our agreement where you feel whole.  But the truth is, it rarely gets to that point. We manage our projects very closely.

We’ve been working on LinkedIn profiles since 2009, A company doesn’t hit over a decade milestone without a very thorough customer service procedure and policy.

The happiness of our client is everything and throughout the process, we are benchmarking and ensuring your satisfaction.

How to Choose the Best Service Provider for Your LinkedIn
Pages & Profiles

Ultimately you’re going to decide on what seems best for you…

I cannot tell you WHAT to decide, but as someone who has specialized in LinkedIn profiles since 2009 (and delivered thousands of profiles), I can offer some guidance on HOW to approach the optimization of your LinkedIn presence.

While there are many ways that a complex branding project of this nature could go wrong, there are really only 3 criteria that will determine whether it’s a starry-eyed success or a gut-wrenching disappointment.

These 3 most important criteria are:

Coordination

Unless you love the idea of playing air traffic controller (i.e. dropping whatever you're supposed to be doing to manage calendars and chase outstanding information), ensure your provider includes a dedicated coordinator to keep the project running smoothly from beginning to end.

When considering potential providers, it's wise to request insight into their project management systems and processes – and if they don't have much to say, it's safe to assume they don't have much to offer.

Compatibility

A profile writer is like underwear… it's either a comfy fit or it chafes.

A great profile writer not only has extensive experience writing for similar industries and target audiences, but also connects (and 'vibes') with their clients on a personal and professional level. This alignment between writer and client is the secret ingredient in authentically magnetic profiles.

When considering potential providers, it’s important they have a varied and diverse team of professional writers with experiences that dovetail with your company’s industry and knowhow.

Cost

While most writers sell their hours, the good ones produce superior content within the same amount of time – and they charge accordingly.

When it comes to crafting LinkedIn profiles, any short-term saving from going with the cheapest provider typically results in a templated (copy and paste) approach that ultimately dilutes your brand and value differentiation – reducing your offering to a mere commodity, where the lowest price wins.

When considering potential providers consider who will interface best with your team, especially your high-level executives. It's important to partner with seasoned writers who have experience interviewing executives, and can speak confidently with them, extracting the most important details. Utlimately, the content developed should be customized and unique to your message and story. Copy and pasted material isn't what we deliver and it's not how you should be portrayed on LinkedIn.

This service is worth every penny if you want a LinkedIn profile that completely leverages all the bells and whistles that LinkedIn has available. You will come up in searches!

The LinkedIn Makeover Backstory

Hey, Donna Serdula here!

As a business owner, I relate to the burning desire to have your team presenting a strategic message aligned with the company’s goals – everyone lifting the vision together; displaying passion for the mission… while presenting as a unified and cohesive front ready to impress and get the job done.

I also relate to the challenge of selling in a highly competitive environment.

In fact, it was that very experience that led to the creation of my company, Vision Board Media and our LinkedIn Makeover platform.

Back in the mid-2000s, as a reseller for Autodesk, I was making 80 cold calls before noon every day – and because we were selling the exact same product as our main competitor, I quickly realized that (as the salesperson) I was the ONLY differentiator between our companies.

My strategy? I would research my target audience, to give me a slight rapport-building edge.

But I repeatedly ran into a problem.

Whenever I Googled my targets, their LinkedIn profile would come up… but these profiles were little more than a copy-and-paste of their resume.

Their profiles offered me ZERO INSIGHT into the human behind the screen, which made my attempts to build rapport impossible.

At some point it (eventually) dawned on me:

If I was checking my target audience out on LinkedIn, they were probably doing the exact same thing to me – and the search results were equally unattractive, unappealing, and did my personal brand no favors.

After failing to find a LinkedIn profile specialist to help me energize my online presence, I decided to become the solution I was looking for.

In 2009, I pioneered the concept of LinkedIn Profile Optimization and developed my unique methodology.

The initial experiment (which ultimately evolved into a career) was infusing personal profiles with branding and advertising techniques, to increase the likelihood of colliding with the right opportunities.

I went on to publish the first book on LinkedIn profile optimization in 2009.

Back then, there wasn’t anything else like it … and by the time I wrote LinkedIn Profile Optimization for Dummies (Wiley Publishing) in 2016, I’d honed the LinkedIn Makeover methodology and grown our stable of writers and coaches to over 20.

Today, the Vision Board Media team has produced more than 6,000 profiles.

Will yours be next?
